Volunteer Job Description
To provide a user friendly service for the clients using the April Centre,
providing a warm comfortable environment and offering a range of information
and advice.
Accountable to: Day Centre Team Leader
Hours of work: 1400-1630hrs / 1630-1900hrs
Main duties will include
- To create an environment which is accepting and motivating for the
clients.
- Supervision of visitors to the April Centre, ensuring that they are
comfortable and aware of the agency timetable, understanding the values,
Smart Ways and confidentiality policy.
- To assist the Day Centre Team Leader with office duties, including reception,
answering the telephone, filing, keeping a day register and liaison with
incoming agencies.
- To assist with the practical day to day running of the centre, such
as ensuring there is appropriate literature available and offering an
information service and advice on employment, housing, social benefits,
sexual health etc; ensuring that the centre is kept clean and tidy and
the drinks machine is adequately supplied for the clients.
- Attend monthly volunteer meetings.
Qualities and Qualifications
Volunteers will need a sympathetic and caring attitude working within
the centre guidelines, and be able to work as part of a team on a rota covering
reception, office duties and floating within the centre. All volunteers
will be fully trained and will undergo a series of four training sessions
on issues relating to the centre and its work, you would need to visit the
centre before commencing your duties as a volunteer.
